Thursday 27th November

In todays lesson i completed my research for ITV so i can move on to channel 4 when we come back after the weekend. We also thought up a few story-lines for our soap so we could have different ideas and different types for our soap opera. All of our research is near enough completed, as after we have finished the audience stuff, we can move onto character profiles and develop more detail into our story-lines.

Wednesday 26th November

In todays lessons, we managed to get alot of our main research done for our project. We had another group meeting this morning to discuss what we was going to do in the 4 lessons we had. We were each set differant tasks at the start of the lessons to do with the codes and conventions of soap, i concentrated my research on the themes and issues delt with in soaps, and had it finished by the end of 3rd lesson, Hollie did the setting, which she also finsihed by around the same time. Keeley did the narrative and Sofia worked on the characeters.
I also finished my research for BBC Two and ITV 1 which means i have two more channels left to research before i make a decsion on the best channel to put our soap on.

Project Diary

24th November

In todays lesson which consisted of 3 hours, we were first given verbal guidance on which is the best way to set out our plan, so we could crack on with it.
We got into our groups and Me Hollie, Keeley and Sofia came up with our project plans and developed dates which were suitable for when the tasks should be finished by. We found it difficult at first to get our heads round what we had to include, how much time we should spend on each task and also what our plan should consist of. We had a rough plan by the end that we will copy up and hand in by Wednesday 26th November. We carried on with our research of different channels with Miss Barnett, and i near enough have finished BBC One and Two, just need to add pictures to my work on BBC Two and it is finished. I feel my work so far is going well, and i am concentrating more on what i need to do before i can even touch a camera.

Soap Opera

We did a very interesting project of the History of British Soap, which included how the name soap opera came about? what are the oldest soaps and how they have involved in the new century.
We gained valuable information on all aspects of soaps, like
  • Coronation street
  • Eastenders
  • Emmerdale
  • Hollyoaks
  • The Archers
and many more!

We then designed a timeline on how british soap opera came about and how it has involved. This would end up being a key piece of work, and a great help for when we moved onto making our own programme called So you think you know British TV.
We worked in pairs and got valuable experience using cameras for filming, creating project plans, storyboards and even editing our own films. We came up with out own ideas, filmed in our own time and wherever we felt was suitable for our project. Then after all the editing and even including background music and using differant camera shots to make our programme more effective, we showed our programme to the group.
